Casual Hessel Grange Meetup at La Bodega
A casual meetup at La Bodega - part of our community helping reopen the Hessel Grange on Blank Road. Come meet with 20-30 local folks focusing on this local charming site. Join Dr. Laura Polak for the final, most empowering session in our series at La Bodega. Over the past two months, we've explored how chronic pain is often a signal of a dysregulated nervous system — not just tissue damage. Now, we'll dive into the revolutionary science of neuroplasticity — your brain's astonishing ability to reorganize itself and create new neural pathways.
In This Session, You Will Discover:
The Brain's Superpower: Understand how your brain has learned pain, and more importantly, how it can unlearn it.
Somatic Tracking: Learn to observe sensations with curiosity, shifting your relationship with pain.
Pleasure Paths & Visualization: Discover how to intentionally build new neural pathways of safety and joy.
The Power of Play: Reconnect with the healing potential of lightheartedness and creativity.
Glimmers: Amplify those tiny moments of ease that gently guide your nervous system back to calm.
This is not about ignoring your pain — it's about understanding its true message and giving your brain the tools to rewrite its story. Dr. Polak will guide you through practical, evidence-based techniques that empower you to actively participate in your own healing journey.

Nomi Klein - Art Reception
All invited to meet Nomi Klein, hobnob with the local gentry, and share a toast to local creativity.
Nomi Klein’s Bio
Nomi grew up immersed in the sweet-scented scenery of orange groves and the rackety rambles of farm workshops filled with industrial machinery. These two dichotic forces; flowing, colorful nature and the cool precision of machines have been key sources of her inspiration.
Nomi was born in Israel and grew up immersed on a Kibbutz. As a young teen she
learned technical machine design and served in the Israeli army in that field. She
studied oil painting, window design and sculpture at Bezalel Academy of Art & Design in Jerusalem.
In the late ‘70s, Nomi moved with her family to New York City. There she studied ceramics, casting and molding at the Parson School of Design. She was awarded a merit scholarship at the Art Students League and exhibited her work extensively in Soho galleries.
Nomi experiments with different material and media; transforming everyday objects into art. She applies wood-cracking technique to a canvas by which she creates a unique mixed-medium affect of cloth-cracking with paint layers. Her wooden window design pieces in which she combines discarded window frames with traditional art, blur the viewer’s blur the viewer’s perspective of indoor and outdoor spaces. For Nomi, art is a holistic experience. Opportunities are all around, waiting to be expressed.
